5Nice and clean, without drying or stingingJan 28, 2010
By April Reis
It took a few days for me to get used to the idea of a toner that didn't sting and make my skin tight and dry feeling....

I think I am a changed woman! I'm reaching my late 20's and seem to need a little more moisture than I did when I was in my teens, but for some reason I was still cleaning like I was 17.

This stuff is great...it smells nice and clean, no stinging or tightness, and it helps remove any makeup left on my face after Alba's coconut milk face wash. My face feels smoother and healthier, and I am actually seeing less break outs than when I was using more harsh products that were stripping all the moisture from my skin.

I may have to re-think this product in the summer months, though. I'm not sure how well it will work for me in the hot, humid, southern months.

5PARABEN CONFUSION about this product!! BE CAREFUL!Oct 11, 2011
By Wes
Be careful when purchasing this product. THERE ARE VERSIONS OF THIS STILL AVAILABLE THAT HAVE PARABENS. If you are buying this for it's "natural-ness", do make sure to read the label of your bottle.

Yes, the ALBA website and Amazon mention there are NO PARABENS, and they aren't listed in the ingredients. But I have two bottles recently purchased that DO list Methylparaben and Propylparaben as the last few ingredients. And there are other differences in ingredients as well.

On my bottles of this, the FIRT ingredient listed is Aloe Vera Juice, and nowhere in the ingredients is "purified water" listed. This is exactly what is listed on Drugstore dot com as well. It matches my two bottles exactly, (though I did not buy mine online. The ingredients on the Alba website list "Purified Water" as the FIRST ingredient, and aloe vera juice as the THIRD ingredient.

That said, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the two bottles I have at home because they are so soothing. I am worried that this "new?" version of this won't be as soothing, as it seems to be mostly water now. That has me confused and I have emailed Alba to ask about this, and will update this review if I hear any information. Just wanted everyone to know this info. My bottles were purchased at a large local health food store within the year 2011.

The ingredients listed on MY bottles at home are as follows. Note the asterisks below:

Aloe Vera (Aloe Barbadensis) Leaf Juice, Polysorbate 20, Panthenol (Pro-Vitamin B5), Centella Asiatica (Certified Organic Gotu Kola), Calendula Officinalis, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Extracts, Allantoin (Comfrey Root), Hibiscus Sabdariffa Flower, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel), Arnica Montana (Montana Flower), Ionicera Caprifolium (Honeysuckle), Psidium Guajava Extracts (Guava), Phenoxyethanol, **Methyl/Propylparaben**, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil

The ingredients on the Alba website and here on Amazon are as follows. This is NOT what is on MY bottles at home:

Purified water, polysorbate 20, certified organic aloe barbadensis leaf juice, panthenol (pro-vitamin B5), allantoin, sodium PCA, extracts of centella asiatica, calendula officinalis flower, mananelis virginiana (witch hazel), hibiscus rosa-sinensis flower, arnica montana flower, passifloria incarnata (passion flower) fruit, cucumis sativus (cucumber) fruit, lonicera japonica (honeysuckle) flower and psidium guajava fruit, phenoxyethanol, ethylhexylglycerin, sodium hydroxide, citrus aurantium bergamia (bergamot) fruit oil.

55 stars for me!Jan 17, 2011
By EquallyYoked
I have recently switched to Alba Botanica, and I am in love with it! I have a similar case with another reviewer here where I had been using the same harsh products like I used when I was like 16. As you get older, your skin has different needs. I wasn't being too kind to my skin with all those chemicals. Alba just smells and feels great on my skin. It is made with more natural stuff, and I feel like my skin is actually being repaired the more I use it. This toner even helps remove eyeliner residue. I will continue to buy this product simply because of the drastic results. :)

3Causes burning and numbing sensation, not a great productMay 11, 2010
By L P "lilip"
I usually dont have sensitive skin but this made my skin burn and tingle. I got some of it on my lips and they got numb. These symptoms usually disappear after a few minutes and I may have some allergic reaction to this product, but all the reviews stating that it is great for sensitive skin and doesnt cause itching, burning and stinging surprise me. My skin definitely feels clean and smooth afterwards, but the applying of the toner is painful.
