Description:

Annie's Cheddar Mac (as we call it) is our answer to all those chemically orange colored cheeses out there. We've taken our original shells & white cheddar and added a little color to it, naturally! Our totally natural cheese is colored with a plant extract called annatto. Annatto has been used in tropical American cultures for generations to color foods such as butter, cheese and mustard. The annatto tree grows 20 to 30 feet in height and when its seeds are stirred in water, they produce orange annatto dye, also called achiote, to color foods. Annie's cheddar macaroni and cheese is a great alternative for kids who need to have that orange cheese on their macaroni.

Features:

The original shells and white cheddar macaroni and cheese, naturally colored using the plant extract annatto--a perfect answer to all the chemically orange colored cheeses

Pack of twelve 6-ounce boxes

Vegetarian product, zero grams trans fat, and yeast free

Good source of protein, calcium, vitamin A, vitamin B1, and folic acid

A great all natural dish for kids who need to have that ?orange? cheese on their macaroni

Annie?s Homegrown strives for the motto: ?Eat Responsibly. Act Responsibly.?

5Hooked on Annie's, will never return to Kraft!Jul 16, 2006
By Catherine Martin
We stopped buying the Kraft mac n' cheese once we got started on Annie's products. The cheese sauce tastes more like real cheese than the sweet, overprocessed Kraft sauce. Once you acquire a taste for Annie's, there's no going back! On the other hand, the kids' friends who come over for lunch often turn up their noses at our Annie's mac and cheese, because they are so accustomed to Kraft or the like. I like that Annie's are all-natural, too, but it's mainly the taste that keeps me coming back for more. A note about the shell kind: you get more for your money than the bunny or Arthur shapes. The kids love the cute shapes, so we buy both, but the shells are a better deal.

5This is how I perfect itJan 23, 2011
By Techthusiast "n00b"
1) I use a 1/2 cup of Dannon NonFat Plain Yoghurt (per the instructions) and find that even without butter or milk, the sauce is creamy, tangy, perfect.

2) Tabasco for a kick

3) Parsley (dried will do) because it is awesome.

4) Cracked red and black pepper because that's how I roll.

5) Tuna if you like tuna.

Result = wholesome joy.

5Organic and delicious comfort food...Feb 11, 2008
By Jesus is my Savior
This is without a doubt one of the best "mac and cheese" products around. And it is good for you too! I noticed some negative reviews about the cheese sauce being too thin. YOU NEED TO DRAIN THE SHELLS REALLY WELL and this will remedy that. They are like tiny water buckets, so I stirred and shook the water out of them while they were in my collander and it did the trick. ENJOY!

5Try it with yogurt for more flavorJan 18, 2010
By LilyLulay
I suggest trying it with yogurt, and skipping the milk and butter all together if you prefer a stronger flavor. I like strong cheeses and sharp cheddar, I also appreciate a thick and creamy Mac & Cheese. 1/4 a cup of plain yogurt (or to taste!) is worth a try.

5The BestApr 27, 2010
By Sally Hansen
Annie's is simply the best. I don't know what some of these other reviewers are talking about. It does take a while to get kids used to the taste of real food versus whatever is in Kraft. But - it's simply a great product. I cook it two boxes at a time so we'll have leftovers. I recommend being sure to add butter. And plain yogurt is a great substitute for the milk (as someone else suggested) I'll never go back to Kraft!
