No artificial preservatives or flavors. It began very simply. In 1960 in the back of a small health food store in Pasadena, we created something people really liked: a delicious, naturally low-fat granola. Soon, it was our most popular item, and health food stores across California were asking for it. Our business grew but our mission never changed. Give people truly flavorful, wholesome foods made with simple ingredients. Our Passion: In creating our vision for Back to Nature, we learned that there's a powerful demand for what we are passionate about, nutritious foods without artificial preservatives, flavors or colors. It seems that people don't want to eat things they can't pronounce. Who can blame them? Keep it Simple: Over time, as we've continued to create new products we've learned something important. Keep it simple. Natural grains, real nutrition, and the delicious tastes and pure flavors of nature. Our Commitment: So we keep our commitment to nature very much in mind with everything we do - including our active efforts to support causes which benefit the natural environment. These are simple commitments that hearken back to simpler times. Just like the naturally delicious foods that Back to Nature makes. Organic Shells & Cheese Dinner -This is satisfying comfort food on two levels. First, it's a deliciously creamy pasta dish with all the rich cheese flavor you could want. But it has another comforting side - it's completely organic and made without artificial preservatives or flavors. Our creamy certified organic cheddar cheese sauce is perfect with the little pasta shells that capture just the right amount of cheesy goodness. And that cheerful orange color? It comes from the natural ground annatto seed of the tropical annatto tree. Back to Nature Organic Shells & Cheese Dinner is the essence of what is meant by comfort food. Simple. Real. And delicious. Great with a few extra ingredients added.Jul 03, 2006

I am a huge fan of organic foods and have experimented for years on how to get my children to eat things that are better for them. That said, this pasta is as good as any other on the market, but you can make it wonderful just by adding two simple ingredients. After I take the pasta out of the pan to drain it, I add about a tablespoon of light margarine (any soft butter-type spread will work) and about 3 tablespoons of fat free sour cream (you may also use plain yogurt). I whisk the cheese powder into this mixture and then add the pasta back to the mix. My kids finish an entire box EVERY time. Try it!

Great alternative to KraftMar 18, 2007
By K. Wilson My kids have always preferred Kraft Mac & Cheese. *I* did not prefer it's ingredients but I relented because they liked it. I took a chance and ordered this mac & cheese hoping they would like it. I have purchased other organics (like Annie's) which they hated so I wasn't holding out much hope. I made it in place of the Kraft for dinner one night and there wasn't even a comment made about the switch! They ate it up and wanted seconds! This is now a staple in my pantry and I feel better about serving mac & cheese twice a month or so since it's ingredients are organic. If your kids like Kraft but don't like Annie's, I encourage you to try Back to Nature

Great mac-n-cheese!May 22, 2009
By Marci Sweet Excellent product. I was weary to try it because the kids love Kraft over others we have tried. The kids approve! This is my new go to mac-n-cheese. I can also feel good I am giving my kids a healthy organic product with no weird ingredients.

Great way to feed kids lots of veggiesDec 17, 2008

I like Back to Nature's mac and cheese a lot, my toddler do too. I do add my ingredients as well.
Here's what I do:
I cook pasta as directed, but on top of the pot with pasta I set a steamer basket with variety of frozen veggies, like mix of squash, cauliflower, green beans, carrots, corn, clove of garlic and either butternut squash or a winter pumpkin. By the time pasta is ready, veggies are nice and warm too. Then I cream all the veggies with some milk, cream and the cheese powder from the pouch. We never do anything low fat in our house, but if you do, you can use whatever you usually do. I add this sauce to the drained pasta, put it back on the burner just to warm it up again and add a good amount of a frozen carrot/sweet peas mixture. My kids finish their plates and ask for more. It's really good and you can never tell how much veggies are in there.
