I had no adverse reactions eating the entire can. Usually i feel a bit ill after eating canned fish. The best canned fish i have ever had. The one i had says smoked on the side. It says the fish is caught in Maine so i was happy it was from colder waters in the north.

This tastes awesome! I like it so much that when no one is looking, I drink the juices right out of the can. It's great on crackers with some cream cheese, but it stands well on its own too - if someone didn't tell me, I wouldn't think it came out of a can. The smoke and pepper really go well together!

Pleasantly surprised. It is canned herring. It is the best canned herring, just perfect. A bit surprised it was 'mfg' in CANADA, though. Why not Maine, as portrayed?

I have used this canned herring to make fish salad and also just ate it from the can with fried potatoes. The taste is pretty good but there is too much salt, in my opinion.

These taste excellent straight out of the can on gluten free crackers. Excellent source of protein, too! I purchased several types of this brand at the store to sample them before I purchased them in bulk on Amazon - glad I did! This one is my favorite. Firm fish and great combination of smoked flavor with cracked pepper. Mine wasn't in pieces as another reviewer stated.
