Great Office MachineDec 11, 2010

This Canon does exactly what it says it will. It's an excellent fax, copier, and printer. The only drawback I have noticed is a somewhat perplexing way of changing feature parameters via the LCD screen. The commands aren't obvious and you have to consult the manual to know how to input the desired parameters.
The only aggravating feature I have noticed is to stop a fax or copy request. There is a stop button on the machine, yet canceling a job requires that you press the stop button, then also press an approval of the command to stop. This double action is unnecessary and redundant. The real problem is that the reiteration command to accept the stop action is done on the buttons below the LCD screen and the command to do so isn't obvious to the user. Once you have used the machine you realize the stop action can only be accepted by pressing the back button below the LCD screen. This appears to be a somewhat bizarre method to stop a copy or fax job.
I have the machine functioning via a Silex print server. This is a slight drawback because I found out (fortunately, before purchasing)that only certain print servers would work with this machine. While print servers are usually cheap, the Silex is not. That may be because Silex appears to be owned by Canon, which would make it in Canon's best interest to sell a print server that isn't cheap and is the only viable print server for connecting to their machine.
These are minor negatives compared to the very positive performance of the machine. The paper feed is excellent. I have had no real issues in over 10,000 copies thus far. The fax machine works well. The remote desktop toolbox works well (except that the Silex print server requires that firewalls be inactivated prior to scan jobs). This necessitates inactivating and then reactivating firewalls to get a scan sent from the unit to the computer.
Overall, I am very pleased with this product.
