By James Cliff I ordered this thinking it would be a simple way to have a decent soup. It tasted horrible. As another reviewer said, the noodles were all right. The soup powder portion smelled and tasted like soap. I had to throw away an entire pot of soup. Now I have lots of leftover packages I cannot use.

Down home ?? Chicken SoupDec 29, 2007

I had high hopes that this soup would taste homemade but it tastes much like other boxed soups - very salty and not as if it was cooked from scratch. The noodles were good but the rest of the soup was not at all what I had hoped it would be. I would not buy again and now I have UNUSED packages left : (

By lze I actually think the soup is quite good. It's not "low sodium", but it's not excessive either. It has 560 mg Sodium, so that's 25% of RDA-that's a lot less than what you typically see in canned soups. With the soup base added, I will say there is quite a bit of pepper and onion that I detect, but again, I don't think it's excessive. I decided to go for the creamier version and use a cup of milk with the soupbase instead of 3 Tbsp of water. It's a very nice change of pace. It passed the test with my husband and 9 YO son, so that's pretty impressive. I'm trying to get away from the canned soups (i.e. BPA)and Canterbury Naturals has been a great way to accomplish this. So far we've had the White Chicken Chili, Fireside Tortilla (added ground chicken to it), Tortellini, Farmhouse Curry, and the Chicken Noodle. I think they're all great. Whether the recipe calls for it or not, I am adding ground meat or chicken breast, just to give it more substance so it can be more filling. For the Tortellini soup I added 8oz. of tomato sauce, chicken breast, and an extra package of cheese tortellini-it was filling and GOOD. You can buy most of the flavors in the natural/organic section at Kroger, but they're cheaper on subscribe and save if you really like them.
Didn't like the tasteDec 05, 2011
By Mom785943 I didn't like the taste of this very much. It was OK, but it tasted a little odd. I loved their White Lightening Chicken Chili, but don't recommended the Chicken Noodle Soup.
Delicious, easy to make soupNov 29, 2011
By jsens Our whole family loves this soup and we can have a meal on the table in less than an hour. It's an all natural soup, so it's healthy too.
