 Something was wrong with this batch!Sep 15, 2009

I have been buying these treats for years and have bought them from Amazon for over a year. This batch looked "different", but they smelled OK and the expiration date was a year away, so I offered them to my cats, who LOVE this treat. The cats wouldn't touch them. I opened 3 separate bags and offered them some, they wouldn't eat them. The treats usually feel oily and are flexible and shiny. This batch of treats is very dry and flaky, and they are dull looking. They break apart when you bend them and they do not leave any oil on your fingers. It is possible that the vendor has changed the product, but I would suggest that anyone else who buys these and your cat doesn't want them, please contact Amazon so they can possibly pull the product from the shelves. Would love to hear from others who bought these, any problem?

I have four cats at home, and like all cats, they love treats...
The only problem for me was, most treats from leading brands are composed mainly of cereals and artificial flavors, which is definitely not the healthiest thing you can feed your cat.
So I starting searching around, and I finally bought a bag of Vitakitty - bingo! Those little strips of chicken jerky are a HIT with all the cats, they are very healthy, contain no nasty ingredients, and are also very convenient and non-messy.
They are pretty pricey at the pet store (about $3-4 a bag) but with the automatic delivery program from amazon, it comes up to $1.5 a bag, with free shipping.
Highly recommended for finicky owners and hungry cats!

I've always been selective about my cat's food, and was delighted to find Vitakitty at the pet store today. They had several different types, but I picked the flaxseed and vitamins mix because my cat has dry skin, which causes problems with shedding and hairballs. She isn't usually big on new foods, but it only took a little coaxing to get her to try it, and the second and third treats disappeared in a flash.
The consistency is similar to shredded jerky, and the entire ingredients list is:
Chicken Breast, Flaxseed, Vitamin E Supplement, Vitamin A Acetate
The front of the package informs that the meat comes from natural, cage free chickens. None of that extra nasty stuff like byproducts, corn, dyes, salt, or sugar. I was tempted to try some myself!

An unfortunate trend I'm afraid...Oct 07, 2009

I too have purchased this product before and been happy with it, but what I received this time was unacceptable. Like two other reviewers, I ordered the 10 bags of Vitakitty, as well as the Happy Hips - 20 bags in all. When I received them, every bag contained dried out, gross product that I wouldn't feed my cat. Ordinarily it's like crack to her - she loves it.
I contacted customer service and they sent me another batch of each, which I received today. Unfortunately, all of these bags were similarly dried out except for the one that was completely full of mold. That makes for 40 bad bags of cat treats!
Once again I alerted customer service about what appears to be more than an isolated issue and they promised to investigate the whole batch, so hopefully this will be taken care of and we can all get the high quality product we're used to.
FYI - in the meantime I went to a specialty pet store that carries this brand and what I got was up to the usual standards, so I don't think it's a change by the manufacturer as some have suggested. My best guess is that the conditions of the warehouse where they stored this batch led to its drying out.

I have two cats and they both LOVE these treats. My one cat shouldn't count as he'll eat anything, but the other is not food motivated and seriously fussy... he comes running when he hears me opening the bag. I love that they're healthy too.
