Lush, ambrosial and gentleSep 06, 2006
By - Kasia S. This delicate white tea with the smoothest hint of luscious dewy pear and a kiss of vanilla takes me back to my childhood days of running around in sun all day, eating fresh fruit that would drip all the way down to my elbows washed down by massive amounts of tea.
I have to agree with the reviewer below that the taste is faint, and that's the best part of this tea. Sometimes you want something soft and soothing but not herbal, that almost tastes like juicy water and this really takes the punch.
I love it with a bit of sugar, and it gets even better when cooled or made with ice. For those watching calories, sugar can be omitted and this tea can be drunk in gallons to refresh and tranquilize. I can forget all about store bought iced teas and all the soda in the world when presented with this, as it is truly a tea I can see myself buying for the rest of my life. It's gentler than black tea, healthier and 100% natural with less caffeine than coffee and that flowery aroma of summer bouquets caught in a tiny tea bag is a marvel to behold.

Delicious, with an interesting exotic tasteOct 13, 2006
By Kurt A. Johnson Ah, it's a definite American story - in 1969 friends Mo Siegel and Wyck Hay of Colorado began selling the herbal teas that they had previously only made for themselves. From such small beginnings came that famous tea company - Celestial Seasonings.
Among Celestial Seasonings' many products is a new and exciting tea - Perfectly Pear White tea. White tea is relatively new to the West, but is an old secret of China. White tea is tea made from new growth buds and young leaves which have been steamed and then dried. Celestial Seasonings took this delicate flavored tea, and made it a wonderful drink by adding pear and vanilla.
Now, one word of warning: you must be careful with this tea, as I have found that it tastes excellent with a short steep time, but quickly turns bitter and unpalatable if over-steeped. But, that said, this is a great tea, one that tastes excellent hot, and very good iced. (Some prefer it iced, I prefer it hot.) So, if you want delicious new tea, one with an interesting exotic taste, then get Celestial Seasonings Perfectly Pear White Tea. I highly recommend it!

Fruity vanilla flavor with healthy anti-oxidants!Sep 03, 2006
By Snowbrocade The bouquet of this brewed tea is floral-fruity. The flavor is sweet--fruit and vanilla. I don't get a strong pear flavor but in my opinion that is a good thing!! I enjoyed this tea. I hope they come up with a decaf version since this has 50 mg of caffeine--too much for me!
White tea has the highest level of antioxidants of all teas. Supposedly antioxidants reverse damage done by free-radicals to tissues of the body. Free radical damage can be caused by pollution, radiation, smoking and the aging process. Reversing this damage is supposed to reduce effects of aging and disease. Some say that antioxidants help prevent heart disease, alzheimers and cancer.
Celestial Seasonings gets extra points for their packaging: they utilize 100% natural recycled paperboard in their boxes and they don't package each tea bag individually. Instead they use a system of a waxed paper bag inside the box that stays shut when you fold it. It keeps the bags fresh and utilizes less packaging than individually wrapping each bag. They put a caffeine meter on the box to compare this tea with cola and coffee beverages-this tea has 50 mg of caffeine compared to 90 in a cup of drip coffee. The level of antioxidants and information about them would be a good addition.

A delicate taste of pearMay 05, 2008

This is my favorite tea. It has the lightest, most delicate taste of pear, mixed with vanilla, it hits the back of my tongue as I sip it. The flavor seems even stronger when I let the cup of tea cool. I put a little bit of sweetner in to accentuate the taste. I love it. It is pure delight, golden and delicious. It reminds me of summer. I have never seen this tea in the store, so to have it delivered in 6 packs from Amazon is wonderful. Since it is a white tea it should not brew for longer than 3 minutes.

It has a very faint pear tasteFeb 28, 2008

I received it today and it's okay, but the flavor is a very faint taste of pear, so next time I will use 2 tea bags when I make it in a cup. I really like pear nectar, so I'm a bit disappointed. Also the other reviewer's caution NOT to steep it very long is correct. Since I have a 2 cup automatic tea pot, I let it stay on the heat and the second cup was really bitter. I guess the white tea is too delicate to keep heated. I think I will stick w/ only herbal teas or a chai black tea as neither have ever tasted bitter to me and have stronger flavors.
