A great sugar alternativeDec 21, 2008
By K. Vetrano I recently had the opportunity to try Coombs Family Farms maple sugar. It's wonderful! You only need a little bit to get that same sweetness you would with table sugar. I used about 1/2 teaspoon in my coffee (compared to a full teaspoon of table sugar) and it was just as sweet, but I saved calories. It also gave my coffee a hint of a maple taste. It was not overpowering at all, but instead a very subtle maple accent. I use a lot of flavored creamers and this is a much healthier alternative (less calories and fat then creamers). I can't wait to bake with the maple sugar.

Yum! Maple sugar is great and adds a wonderful flavor!Sep 27, 2009

I originally bought some maple sugar awhile back and it just sat on my shelf, as I wasn't really sure what to do with it. However, one day after making pancakes I realized I didn't have any maple syrup so we used maple sugar instead. Yum! what a great flavor! It is concentrated, so you don't really need much. I then began experimenting with it - adding it to oatmeal, cakes and other baked goods. The flavor that it adds is wonderful, lending a richness that regular sweeteners just can't match.
When I ran out I ordered this 3 pack from Amazon. It is a different brand than I had previously, but it has the good taste I became accustomed to. My only complaint is that the granules are bigger - not like actual sugar flakes (which is how my previous maple sugar was) but it still does the job and lends that great flavor my family loves.
It's also a great addition for RV's, camping, etc. - anywhere that you don't want the heaviness or glass bottles of maple syrup. With the 3 pack I'm able to stick one in our RV without worry that it will break, get too hot and leak goo, and it doesn't need refrigeration after opening like maple syrup does.
Great, tasty, handy stuff - Wish I'd discovered it earlier.

Love this stuffMay 19, 2010
By C. G. King These maple sugar granules are slightly bigger than granularized cane sugar and do not stick together. They maintain a bit of a crunch when sprinkled over yogurt or oatmeal, which is as much a pleasure as the maple taste. For a minimum number of calories I can add the punch of this sweet tasty treat.
Since I like a maple taste, I've tried several products from maple butter to a powdery type of dry sugar (which turned to solid rock in the jar) and have found this to be the most accessible for a variety of uses where you want something different from syrup.
I once found this type of product in a health food store, but haven't been able to again and am pleased it's available through Amazon. It's great sprinkled on toast or homemade cookies or anywhere you might use a cinnamon/sugar combination. Highly recommended.
So easy to add the maple flavor to anythingApr 17, 2011
By J. Layton I bought these for a dish I wanted to make, but we love them so much. Shake a little on your cereal, mix in with you turkey meat loaf, or sprinkle on anything you want to add a bit of maple flavor to.
