simply delicious!Jul 04, 2010
By kimberly i took the chance when i saw the price but it exceeded my expectation. i have a couple of co-workers who sell tastefully simple beer bread mix, but buying thru them is not only pain, but gets expensive (alomst double price compared with this brand) this dassant beer bread mix is as good as tastefully simple mix, why i spend more money?

Very Good Beer Bread MixMay 11, 2011
By Cecil For the last couple years Trader Joe's was carrying the best Beer Bread mix I have ever tested, but they discontinued it a few months ago, to my very great dismay. I contacted their corporate offices to see if I could find out who their supplier was, but no go. They wouldn't spill. I took the ingredient list and searched the internet for a product with as close as possible to the same ingredients in the same order (about the same amounts) until I found a match. After all, some company out there was making it for them and maybe with the same formulation.
This has the same ingredients in the same order and almost identical preparation instructions. The Trader Joe's product was dense and rich with the flavor of whichever beer you chose coming through gently in the background. Caution, do not use a beer with a strong hops flavor, as this isn't complimentary to bread flavors. I use standard commercial American yellow beer or something with a maltier flavor like a pale ale or a mild Bitter, though watch out for the hops. A good fresh beer gives the bread that nice yeasty flavor.
There are two differences between this mix and the Trader Joe's, the batter is a bit thinner which actually makes it easier to handle and the flavor is a bit sweeter. The Trader Joe's bread was just under having a sweet taste and this has a definite mild sweetness which I don't care for, but it is slight. If you never had the Trader Joe's mix, then you will likely love this if you like heavy filling flavorful breads. GREAT TOASTED!

This bread has a good taste. It is sweet, so if you are looking for a bread that is savory, this is not for you.

Totaly awesome, totaly easy bread!Jul 08, 2010
By JCP "natural chef wannabe" This bread is totaly awesome and it is totaly easy to prepare! My husband LOVES it and frequently requests it with dinner. The taste is so simple and sweet, the bread is dense and moist, you can't beat hot out of the oven beer bread and this mix is a great deal with great results! Such a perfect accompaniment to soup for a filling meal or with a hearty crockpot roast.

Dassant Classic Beer BreadDec 17, 2009
By D. Krueger I've been using and enjoying Dassant Classic Beer Bread for many years. It is delicious and very simple to make. It is a family favorite, especially when served with "Grandma's Soup" or a hearty beef stew.
