3Better than my previous reviewSep 13, 2009
By James Johnson "kitchen warlock"
February 16, 2010: They have changed the product again. It now absorbs liquid and cooks just fine. It is also digestible. However, I don't much care for it as something to eat. I will stick with whey.

September 13, 2009: This used to be a great product, but they had to modify it recently to ensure that the product is non-GMO. The "new" product now contains too many burned black pieces; no longer absorbs water; and is indigestible, passing in hard granules all the way through the digestive system -- very unpleasant. After five years of using this product, I am so disappointed. I have switched to whey protein.

5A nutritious staple with varied usesFeb 06, 2011
By J. Manly "healthychoices"
This is a nutritious and extremely versatile product which allows the addition of plant-based protein to an assortment of foods.

Add to baked goods such as yeast and quick breads and muffins; a small amount adds texture and a bit of crunch to the occasional batch of cookies and brownies. They can also be added to pancakes, but there I prefer soy flour.

Add to soups, chilis and stews. (Start with a small amount.)

However, if you plan to use this as a cereal, it works best as part of a cereal mixture. My personal favorite is in the ratio of 1/3 soya granules, 2/3 steel cut oats, with a few Tbsp chia seed, sprouted organic golden flax and agave syrup to taste. (Amazon carries all of these products.) Unsalted raw almonds, dried fruit and a seasoning such as freshly grated ginger are delicious additions.

I cook enough cereal for several days and store in a glass container in the refrigerator. People spoon out the portion they want, then reheat it in the microwave. Tastes much better than instant!

The pack of three canisters will keep well on the shelf, but to maintain freshness, I'd recommend refrigerating an opened canister if space allows.

Ordered Fern Soya Granules after grocery stores ceased to carry it. The ones sent to me were exactly as they have been for all the years I have used them and very good.

5Makes a muffin into a meal!Dec 27, 2007
By JMacPherson
Adds a little texture and a lot of nutrition when added to baked goods. Your recipes need only a little tinkering to make this work when you add it. Enabled my husband, a diabetic to enjoy a serving of home made cobbler as a meal. Helped him stay on oral meds for 13 years as a diabetic. Highly recommend!
I add it to cookies, breads and fruit cobblers. No strong soya taste.
Enjoy!
