Tomato Soup the way you remember itJul 31, 2008
By Joanna Daneman For some reason, the good people at Heinz see fit to market a number of delectable items that Americans might like but are reserved for the Brits. One of them is baked beans (the kind you serve on toast, not the kind you serve with barbecue.) Another is this tomato soup.
The soup comes in a pull-tab can, with two moderate servings (not quite a full soup mug.) You do not dilute this soup. The flavor is rich with tomatoes. The "cream" is some skim milk and a little bit of cream; this is not a bisque. The other chief attraction is that the soup has no wheat flour.
Ingredients:
Tomatoes (84%), water, vegetable oil, sugar, modified cornflour, salt, dried skimmed milk, whey protein, cream, citric acid, spice extracts, herb extract
Compare this with Campbells:
tomato puree (water, tomato paste), water, wheat, flour, high fructose corn syrup, contains less than 2% of the following : salt, ascorbic acid (added to help retain color), flavoring, citric acid.
Look, Campbells has that nasty HFCS! That cloying, sweet taste that is not good for you! No wonder Heinz tastes like a tomato.

Heinz Cream of Tomato Soup is Available in the U.S.!Dec 08, 2009

F.Y.I. - To all the people who wrote a review of this product, Heinz Cream of Tomato Soup, yes, you can get it at the grocery store. I just found it not in your ordinary "Campbell soup" isle, but in the foreign foods isle, tacos, taco shells, asian food, Japanese Udon noodles, Heinz Cream of Tomato Soup, etc. It sells for $3.49 a can at Shaw's Supermarket in Manchester, NH. So, next time you're at Shaw's or maybe your favorite food market, don't check the "Campbell's soup isle, check the foreign foods isle.
Warning- not gluten freeDec 21, 2011
By booklover I know - this is not exactly a review of the soup. Sorry. There's no other place to put this. If you're not celiac, skip this warning and disregard the single star.
The product description does not mention gluten free but a search for gluten free tomato soup always brings it up. I accidentally ordered it. Yes, mea culpa - I'm not blaming Heinz or Amazon. I've learned my lesson but I also hope to warn anyone else who might be as as hasty as I was.
Please don't discontinue this product. I love it!!!!Mar 01, 2011
By B. Okin I grew up with Heinz tomato soup in England and since I came here 34 yrs ago I have had difficulty getting a good supplier. I am so disappointed that Amazon is disHeinz Soup, Cream of Tomato, 14.1-Ounce Cans (Pack of 8)continuing supplying it. There is no tomato soup that even comes close to the flavor and creaminess of Heinz tomato soup.
