4Makes a very good chicken makhani (butter chicken)Jul 03, 2008
By B. Nash
Butter chicken is one of my favorite Indian dishes. This little spice pouch greatly exceeded my expectations by making it easy to make a very flavorful rendition of it using only one pot.

1 cup of water, 3 tablespoons butter (I used Smart Balance and it came out great), a pound of chicken (the bagged frozen Tyson grilled chicken strips work great) and 20 minutes and you have a dish that closely approximates the restaurant version. I added some slices of Vidalia onion at the very end so they'd stay crunchy.

Great product, great value. [...]

5Very close to the real thingJul 03, 2008

First let me start of that i am an indian residing in the US. I miss authentic indian food and dont get to eat good indian food in the restaraunts in my city.
These are very vlose to the real thing and taste just yummy. For people who dont eat too much spice the butter chicken wood be an excellent choice. Now i do cook the real butter chicken(not the best cook) i think this tastes better and is very easy to prepare. I didnt have to add any additional ingredients and the chicken came out great. Even entertained a few american guests and they were all over it !

5Great food fastJun 02, 2008

Did you ever just need a fast, easy and quick remedy to solo cooking? Have a yen for Indian food that just won't go away? This product is GREAT--just add chicken (it says chicken breast, but chicken thighs also worked well), heat through and dinner is served. A very tasty dinner it is, too!

5Choosy Indians Choose KOIMay 12, 2009
By Appleonius
I didn't think that this Butter Chicken Curry paste would hold up to a traditional, home cooked Indian meal...but I was gratefully wrong. My mom is a fantastic cook and this paste does a great job emulating that authentic, home made taste. At roughly $2 (or less on sale), this is far cheaper than going out to eat at an Indian restaurant.

My girlfriend and I make this but we first cook down some sweet onion and brown the chicken a bit before adding the curry paste and water. The instructions tell you to add raw chicken but that sounds a little odd to us. We also like to add some extra heat via red chili powder. If you brown the chicken first, cut it into large enough pieces so that they don't dry out during cooking. We've also used this paste to make butter shrimp & it's a great alternative. All of our friends (Indian + non-Indian) LOVE this stuff. Indian approved!

5So delicious and so easy!Feb 20, 2009

I wasn't sure what to expect when I purchased this. And I hesitated and hesitated... But, I'm glad I finally got this! This tastes delicious and it was so easy.

You get 6 individually packaged boxes and each package has the directions. The packages contain one foil packet of the paste. I first melted the butter with the water and then mixed the paste in. Then I added the chicken and cooked until ready. That's it! It was really all I did and it came out great. The smell in the house while this is cooking was heavenly.

I used a little less butter than the recipe asked for and it still turned out delicious. We served this over rice and we really enjoyed it.

There is also a Microwave Oven recipe for those folks that don't have a stove or would rather use the Microwave.

The expiration dates on these were all well out into late next year, so I have plenty of time to use these. But, there is no way they are going to last that long. I'm sure I'll use these all up in the next month or so.

Because of the great success with this item, I ordered some of the other items from this line. I'm eager to test them out and see if they are as wonderful as this one.

I have always wanted to make a tasty Indian dish at home and just didn't know how to go about it. I'm so glad I found these. Big taste. And big money saver versus going to my local Indian restaurant.
