5Much better than the Qualita d'oroJan 13, 2010
By T. Termine
I was using the Lavazza Qualita d'oro for a while, and it never did thrill me. I had been drinking Lavazza in Italy when there on vacation, and the d'oro never tasted the same as that. This one does! I like a full bodied coffee, but one that is not too roasty. This one is it!

4Not really a dark roastApr 21, 2011
By Barry A. Ullman
Coffee was very smooth, with decent flavor. Beans did not appear to be dark roasted, nor did they taste dark roasted, so we were a bit disappointed. Service from this provider was prompt.

4Great Coffee at a Very Reasonable PriceNov 19, 2010
By E. G. DEMATTIA
A very good coffee -The dark roast makes a very bold, strong cup of coffee without being bitter. I actually mix the dark and regular roast beans 1:1 to get the flavor I want. Amazon's price is good, and they show up at my doorstep as needed with the Subscribe and Save deal. The only reason(s) this is 4 stars and not 5 is (a)the vacuum seal on the bags is sometimes poor or broken -the package is not "open" -just not under high vacuum any more -that said I have not noticed a difference in the flavor between the vac sealed and the non-vac sealed (b) I recieved a shipement where one of the bags was slit open. Perhaps from a razor knife used to open the large boxes from Lavazza and package them into the Amazon shipments -I called and they replaced them immediately.

5Best Way to enjoy Lavazza Drink CoffeeJun 12, 2009
By John Bryant
The Dark Roast is better than the regular. If you want a rich and full bodied coffee that has very little bitterness, this coffee is for you. Buy a Grinder for $20 and grind your own beans. Much cheaper than buying the pre-ground Lavazza. In fact it's almost as cheap as buying good coffee in the grocery store. It really is easy to grind your own and the coffee is so fresh. Its really wonderful.

4a personal dilemmaJan 02, 2012
By Iruma
I say a dilemma because it's been my favorite coffee for my espresso machine for the past 5 years no comparison at this price range. I've been very loyal. (of course if you don't care about the cost, I'd go for Illy but for long term use, this is the best i think)

Recently i switched to super-automatic machine from conventional machine, and I learned that only these coffee beans make my super-auto machine malfunction. I didn't know that depending on coffee beans the extraction can be a problem but when i use this particular brand, the machine really strains to extract producing coffee drop by drop. Of course i tried setting the grind more coarse, but it didn't help. Initially i thought the machine is defective but after getting the new unit i later realized that these favorite coffee beans of mine was the cause. When i use other beans the coffee comes out very well in good stream.

I want to go back to this but these days I'm using some neighborhood coffee bean store which i find quite good... It's a dilemma as i miss this coffee. (FYI, i live in NYC, and i'm using Zabar's french-Italian dark beans. I have no connection with that store, i hate it because the lines are always long and crammed!)
