Next, we freeze-dry the fresh unpasteurized organic miso ti retain its maximum benefits. We add select natural ingredients including organic tofu (another great soy food) to make Organic Miso-Cup complete. Much like yogurt, miso is considered to be a living food, That is why Edward & Sons takes extra care to use costly freeze-drying methods which maintain, as much as possible, the naturally occurring living cultures for which fresh miso is prized. Miso-Cup boasts a rich, satisfying flavor which may replace meat or poultry as the foundation for soup, stews, or gravies. Since Miso-Cup is a vegetarian soy food, it is totally free from cholesterol and saturated fats and is a source of isoflavones. Product of USA.

5So pleased to find this on AmazonMay 16, 2008
By D. McElroy
I've been driving 30 minutes and paying full retail to buy this mild, satisfying, low sodium soup. Since it's not full of salt, the flavor is much more mild than regular miso so everyone might not appreciate the taste. It's perfect for my health concerns and I like the flavor.

It's a great sprinkle on seasoning and nice warm snack for the afternoon. Thank you very much for carrying it.

1Go for the Real ThingApr 22, 2011

Originally I had bought the "full-sodium" Miso-Cup soup packets that contained 690 mg of sodium and it tastes identical to what you would get at a restaurant. When I saw the reduced sodium packets, I was excited because Im always looking for more healthy alternatives. This Miso Cup reduced sodium is disgusting. It not only has no flavor but the bits of soy and whatever else is in there, doesn't get soft and just floats at the top of the soup like rocks. Now, I have a huge box of these soup packets and am not really sure what to do with them. I've tried preparing it different ways, but still haven't been able to finish a single cup of it. My advise? Go for the full-sodium Miso-Cup. Yeah, it has more sodium, but it tastes great and is high in protein, vitamins and minerals.

4Reduced sodium doesn't compromise flavorMay 06, 2011

Love the lighter sodium. Overall flavor very good. Wish there were more tofu and vegetable bits, but still very worth purchasing.

5Comfort in a cup!Nov 06, 2011
By C. Pierce
I have a head cold & I've been craving something warm & comforting. I'm vegan, so I got this low-sodium miso soup. One word....YUM!

Contrary to a few reviews, this little cup of comfort IS flavorful. Perhaps those reviewers were missing the extreme amount of sodium in restaurant miso soup.

Next time I fix this, I'm going to put some zucchini & spinach in it for added nutrition.

5Very good for instant, and not too salty!Jul 22, 2011
By S. Blades
Albeit it's not as good as homemade miso, I find this to be the best instant miso I've tried. Personally, I don't like super-salty food, so I was thrilled to find the reduced-sodium kind. This soup is flavorful, and, as another reviewer mentioned, it tastes even better with some dried seaweed added to it. I use Annie Chun's dried seaweed snacks in the sesame flavor: I rip the snacks into 2 or 3 large pieces, throw it in the bowl with the seasoning, and add hot water - voila! That also helps for those of you who might like a saltier soup because the seaweed snacks have sea salt sprinkled on them. If I'm feeling adventurous and have more time, I'll take extra-firm tofu cubes, sear them in a pan with a little olive oil and a bit of the seasoning from the packet, add them to the soup after slightly browned and crispy, and let the soup sit for a bit so the tofu absorbs the flavor. It's healthy and filling without the parched-tongue after-effect that happens with many super-salty instant miso soups. I love this stuff!
