My favorite cleaning brandJan 19, 2009
By Dominique W I've been using Mrs Meyers Clean Day products for over a year now and love them all.
The dishsoap is gentle on my hands. I've tried all of the scents but basil has been my favorite so far.
This soap is not a big sudser. I suggest to refrain from adding more than necessary to get more suds. A little goes a long way. I made this error when I first tried the brand and even though I rinsed my dishes well, I could taste the soap in some of the cups. I do not recommend tasting it! However, for cleaning, I give it 5-stars.

Dish soap stays on dishesFeb 16, 2010
By Alyssa I have previously used Mrs. Meyers Lavender dish soap, and I liked it.
The Basil soap, however, is a huge disappointment. Even after rinsing four times, the perfume-y smell and taste(!) lingers on dishes. It imparts this flavor into your coffee, sautés, or whatever else is unfortunate enough to come into contact with what you've just washed. After this morning's episode with horrible tasting coffee, I cannot even bear to have the smell of this soap on my hands.

Love Mrs Meyers products, HATE this dish soap!!!Jan 27, 2010
By go2girl After trying the Lavender fabric softner (not the laundry soap which got so/so reviews) and the Baby Blossom stain remover, I enthusiastically purchased a case of this soap using Subscribe and Save. I recieved the shipment a few days later and tried it immediately.
Gross.
The dish soap is thick and has a strong floral scent - nothing like fresh basil. It leaves a film on your hands and plastic dishes and cutting boards, creating a film and sudsy effect I could not wash off no matter how hard I tried. The smell of the soap on my hands was unbearable - getting on food stuff even after I had rinsed several times. The soap is thick and truly should not be used near food or on anything you eat off of unless you want to lick off soap.
I will go back to Shaklee liquid dish soap. It is way more expensive and you have to pay for shipping - but is is the cleanest, purest, non-scented and most effective soap I have ever used. In this case, you do get what you pay for.

I like smelling it, not eating it.Jun 12, 2010

I love the smell of this, but I chose it out of the samples I got based on smell, not unsniffed with hopes it would smell like basil.
However, this is the worst dish soap I have ever used. No matter how well I rinse my dishes off, this soap stays on them and ruins food. I have had several lunches I brought to work, heated, and opened the microwave to the wafting scent of hot dish soap. This gets very expensive when one works at an airport, and very difficult for someone who has food allergies and other dietary restrictions.
I have Mrs. Meyers laundry products and air freshener in this scent that I love, but this stuff leaves a really bad taste in my mouth.

Not Basil Fragrnce, light floral insteadJun 11, 2009

I like Mrs. Meyer's products very much as generally they perform well and are safe to use. Thus far Lavender is my favorite since it smells like a moderate strength lavender;Geranium as it smells like a bushel of real roses (a bit overpowering); and then Basil for its very, very too light floral scent. I thought Snap Pea smelled like cut grass that had been sitting in a closed plastic bag and opened a week later. Although the suds/grease cutting power is not as strong as Dawn, Mts. Meyer's product is much better than Seventh Generation's or Ecover's dish washing liquid soap. Of course it is also more expensive than the other 2 brands, as all 3 usually have an Amazon coupon offer at one time or another throughout the year.
