Filling and delicious...Mar 02, 2007
By Uruk Hai I've tried several of the Nile Spice soups and this one, just like the other ones, is a hearty, filling and delicious soup.
It makes a great fast lunch and has a simple list of ingredients.
Highly recommended!

Pureed and spiced black beans. Simple and uncomplicated, but seasoned well. Quick to make since there aren't big chunks to hydrate. Healthy.

I don't like soup butAug 23, 2010
By fauxever These make a great vegetarian chili. I wouldn't have bought these for myself, but received them from someone (they caused her indigestion). Even though I don't care for soup, I took them anyway.
After I add the water, I add uncooked TVP(textured vegetable protein) granules. The TVP soaks up the excess water to reveal a nutritious chili. I also add some tomato paste.
I suppose this reduces the instant-ness and portability, but it sure is darn good.
With the added TVP I get 15-16 grams of fiber and 20-24 grams of protein from only 260 or so calories.

Easy and fillingMar 09, 2010
By ScreamingMiMi I have been eating this Nile Spice soup and the Red Beans and Rice for lunch for a few years. What I like about this is it is fast, easy, filling, tons of fiber and although not organic it doesn't have a lot of crap in it.
My only complaint is the texture. I switched to this after eating Nutrisystem Black Bean Tortilla soup which was just too expensive to keep eating. Unlike the NS soup which has big hunks of bean, this is much smaller pieces so the texture is a little flat. IT also has peppers in it so for those who don't like them this isnt for you. Its not spicy though.
Still, I will continue to eat these. I suggest letting it sit in the hot water for a good 10 minutes to really soften everything up.
