If you like spanish style food, you'll know this dish is simply perfect. I have ordered gallo pinto at restaurants and have eaten it in Central America on several occasions; this IS the real thing. No frills package, easy to make, and simply delicious. I followed the directions for stove top and that was great, but then i made it a second time using my rice cooker and that was even better because i did not have to worry about the temperature or anything. This is really great stuff!

Nueva Cocina's Red Beans and Rice is one of their most flavorful products. It has an ever-so-slight spicy taste to it but not too much. Just enough to leave you taste buds wanting for more! A Great accompaniment to steak, chicken or fish. I highly reccomend this product. I have used this product many times - each time with the same great results. I like all Nueva Cocina's products but this is another favorite of mine.

The ingredients say: Bacon Type Flavor (Hydrolyzed Corn Soy Wheat Gluten Protein,
So this is NOT GLUTEN FREE and is mis-categorized

I had ordered the Mexican rice mix and received the Gallo Pinto mix in error.. I was disappointed but tried it anyway. It was very easy to fix and was a new treat with different spices and flavor I hadn't experienced yet, more Caribbean.
I'll continue to try out Nueva Cocina's other offerings after this first experience with the company.
