Naturally caffeinated. Energy - Want some? What puts the zip in Mate? Mateine: a wholly different kind of boost than caffeine. While caffeine makes you want to hurt the cat, mateine's energy is pleasant, controlled and non-addictive. Traditionally, Mate has been used to enhance sleep and calm nerves while gently arousing a depressed nervous system. The people of the rain forest believe it burns calories, boosts metabolism, and can keep blood pressure in a more blissful state. Most people feel more alert, more at ease and more capable of conquering the world. So when you win a genius grant, all we ask is that you remember us in you acceptance speech. Two health-conscious amigos in Boulder discovered the newest old beverage and launched the sacred sip that gives the buzz of coffee a blush of shame. They mingled the mystery of mate with the juice of cheeky and a squeeze of sass, and called it Pixie Mate. It will float your soul on the wings of a softer buzz and beat the bushes for body-happy antioxidants. Free radicals are trouble makers. These unstable molecules enter your body just looking for a fight. They wreak havoc on cells and have been implicated in all kinds of crimes against you health like arthritis, premature aging, cataracts--even heart disease and cancers. The Bad Guy--Free Radicals vs Antioxidants--The Good Guys. Antioxidants are the sheriff whose job is to keep those delinquent free radicals on the run. But the sheriff needs your help. Once you’re of voting age, your body slacks off of producing enough antioxidants to keep all the outlaws at bay. Luckily mate is one of the best sources of antioxidants you can find anywhere. So grab a cup and support your local sheriff. Antioxidants per serving: Broccoli (400-800); Tomato Juice (550-900); Orange Juice (650-1100); Authentic Mate (3760). What is Mate and why the buzz? Mate is the gentle hum of an awakened mind and a vibrant body. It is energy that's balanced, no frantic. The people of the South American rain forest discovered the magic before we did. From their treasured green leaves emerged the tea that sings the body electric. With a llama-load of antioxidants, mate trickles grinning into your system. It won't leave you drooping or demand addiction. USDA Organic. Pixie Mate is third-party certified organic by QAI. Tasty and a nice energy boost. Very SmoothOct 19, 2007
By AmazonAddict I recently had a thyroidectomy and have been struggling with chronic fatigue. Coffee (which I love) just hasn't been able to wake me up in the mornings like it used to. It takes 4-5 cups to get the cob webs out of my head. 2 cups of this tea and I feel like a whole person again. It is remarkable. I drink it with some splenda and find it very tasty. The energy boost is very smooth, it is hard to describe, I feel very awake but not caffeine "gittery charged".

My favorite hot drink everAug 24, 2007

Really, it is no exageration to say that I like this drink better than coffee or any tea that I've had. I usually drink it with just a touch of sweetener and cream or soy milk and it satisfies my caffeine and sweet urges with no problem.
I went ahead and bought the pack of six because it sold out of my local Whole Foods all the time. It was worth it to be able to share it with my friends and co-workers.

Pixie Chocolate Mate Solstice TeaAug 15, 2007
By K. Shea A delightfully refreshing tea that lives up to the witty descriptions written on the box--it's good hot or cold. I tend to steep it a few minutes longer than the suggested five minutes to give it a fuller flavor. I drink it straight up--no sugar or milk, though that would be tasty, too. It gives me a mild, even energy boost unlike those jitters you can get from coffee.

Nice mate. But a correction...Jan 05, 2010
By D. J. Sapen Nothing to complain about the product - it tastes lovely, is good quality, and has a nice effect. For the record, though, there is no such thing as mateine. This myth has been dispelled, for quite some time now. Mate's different, more pleasant effects are due to a combination of ordinary caffeine (there is no "stereo-isomer" of caffeine, as was originally publicized under the made-up term mateine) with two or more other xanthine compounds, (cousins of caffeine), such as theophylline and theobromine, which reduce and balance out the purely stimulating effects of caffeine, while adding a little mood boost, similar to chocolate. These are present in green tea, but mate contains other compounds, and in different proportions, compared to other teas, which explains its unique effects. I bought this along with another, different but equally yummy mate blend you might want to try, which I just discovered, My Tea Serenitea Organic Mate with Chamomile: [...]. Enjoy, and spread the word about Yerba Mate!

Yum in a mug!Sep 04, 2009
By Wheetie Girl I am a sucker for flavored teas. I first found this tea at TJ Maxx. I love chocolate and tea. I was a little worried that the tea might have an artificial chocolate flavor. It does not! It is wonderful. Yerba Mate can sometimes taste a bit odd. The Pixie Chocolate Mate has a sweet, nutty flavor. Nothing odd here. I always drink my teas with milk and sweetener. The flavors are a satisfying chocolate tea. This is now my favorite tea. I can't say that I feel more energized, but I look forward to drinking this tea every morning. After searching for this tea at my local stores, I finally ordered it from Amazon. I've gone through all my 6 packages and I am ready to order more. To the reviewer who gave hers away...I wish I was your friend!!
