Nice idea but simply works poorlyJan 18, 2007
By maestro I bought this 1)because it was in a bulk pack of 8 boxes, saving me several trips to the grocery store, as it wasn't any cheaper than the 'regular' stuff; and 2) because it is more environmentally friendly. However, this stuff works about as well as using sand in your dishwasher or simply omitting detergent altogether. There is a film of grease on roughly 50% of the items in my dishwasher after using a very generous amount of this powder. I have plates that have been washed with it 3 times and still have a layer of grease and film on them. Here our water is not very hard or soft and there is nothing otherwise unusual; the loads I run would have been cleaned well by a normal detergent. Since I now have 8 boxes of this stuff, I am hoping that mixing a little bit of regular detergent will allow me to use this stuff up and still clean my dishes, otherwise its fifty bucks down the drain (literally). I would not recommend buying this product. And the dust makes me cough if I inhale it accidentally (it is quite caustic).

A WASTE of moneyJul 01, 2007
By Jessica Pierce I bought this thinking that perhaps I could make the switch to something that was more Earth friendly than your run-of-the-mill petroleum based cleaning products...BOY, was I wrong! Like the other reviewers, I also had a film on everything. It was embarrassing! It looked like we simply licked our dishes after using them and put them back in the cupboard. In addition to that, about halfway through the box, the grains caked up and stuck together making it extremely difficult to get any soap out!!!

Doesn't seem to work very wellAug 30, 2007
By Amazon customer I've known about this product for years and only recently decided to try it out. Well, it doesn't seem to get the dishes clean. There is a film and residual coloring on the dishes and the coffee mugs still have coffee film in them. I'll give them 2 stars for at least making a non phosphorus product, but I won't buy this again.
Method makes a great biodegradable dishwashing soap and we're going to see if they make detergent as well.

Horrible product that can actually harm the "Green" movementApr 26, 2008
By KBeat My company brought in an entire section of "Green" products for our customers. For the most part, our customers have been happy with the products and heck, why not use something that's better for the environment if you're getting good results. Then there is this awful product from Planet.
Every single box of the stuff we've sold was returned by customers who have now decided not to bother with "Green" products again. I tried it in my house, and it' absolutely the worst detergent I've ever used. I think the dishes and glasses would look better if I just let my dogs lick them clean. There is a film covering everything. When we're trying to get people to make smarter choices and consider the impact the products they use daily have on our planet, it's products like this that make it much more difficult to change minds. My company will never sell "Planet" products again.
BTW: You'll find no mention of this product on the companies web site. I guess they won't use it either.

Destroyed my silverware and glassesDec 29, 2009
By Big Wood Guy Watch out! We tried this product in an effort to be more environmentally friendly. Instead, we destroyed our SS flatware and glasses. The soap etched the glasses and changed the finish on our stainless steel flatware from shiny to dull. It looks like they have a film on them, but instead they are permanently etched to a dull finish. I am hoping that I can bring back the shine to the flatware with some metal polish, but I am afraid that the glasses are a total loss. Be careful when you try this product not to use your favorite items.
