Not as much of a "bite" as I expected.Jul 23, 2010
By Otis Maxwell In contrast to the other reviewer, I found these a bit mild for my taste. I got them to make olive bread and was expecting that sharp, almost bitter taste you get with Greek-style green olives. These are closer to the pimento-stuffed kind in taste and astringency. Not that there's anything wrong with that as long as you know what you're getting.
As for being "cracked" I'm not sure what that term means in olive curing, but there are definitely no actual cracks in these olives. Which would have made them easier to pit for the bread.
Also, because olive weight descriptions are so confusing, it's worth knowing that you are essentially buying a gallon jug of olives. I don't think the olives drained would add up to 4 plus pounds... believe that is an error in the description. But still a good enough value compared to deli olives, where you're also paying for some liquid.

I like these olivesMay 07, 2010
By J. Miller I love green olives with seeds in them. They are hard to find in the grocery stores. These are better than the ones I can sometimes find on the olive bars. A little strong but I found that removing about half the liquid and replacing it with water worked very well. The olives are firm and I like the size. I will definitely buy again.

Big olives big seedsMar 15, 2011

It says cracked green olives, but they sure were not cracked. It would have made them softer, because they were very hard. The taste was okay. The olives were big and so was the seed. After the seed was out, there was not much left from the olives.
Roland Cracked Green OlivesJun 14, 2011
By German Oregano I ordered these, when I was away, 4 months before I came home. They were just sitting in my room in the package it came in. They were still good when I opened them and they are almost gone within less than a month's time. I would say besides from me, there are about 3 other people in my family that eats them, one more frequently then others lol. I guess I will have to order two or three next time to keep them from magically disappearing. The olives themselves are good, I wouldn't say they are too salty but if your taste buds are sensitive to salt I would suggest that you take out the olives you want before hand and soak them in water. The reason they are called cracked green olives are because they are cracked. Even though it may be difficult to see there are some "cracks" small cut lines that stretch half of some of the olives. A tip for anyone who buy this, the brine is a mixture of olive oil and brine so it is a very good flavoring to use when cooking any sort of meals to add an extra flavor and some salt :)
