Curiously Different...Jun 25, 2006
By Selma Oris

I'm not a mint fan, but got some from a friend and was hooked! Altoids and most of the others have a really 'minty' feel which doesn't sit well with me. These mints are refreshing, but not overwhelming...nice change!
My only complaint is that there hard to find. I want to my local Whole Foods and they don't carry them or any other health food stores...maybe a new product?
Anyway, I would recommend if you want something different. A plus is the container which is very cool and can be re-used to store change, etc.
Great job guys!

Adorable tins, Pleasant flavors, but caused stomach upset.Dec 05, 2006

The tins these mints come in are very cute. I enjoyed the flavors, I found them to be pleasant though they are unique. The flavors are mild but refreshing. The Green tea flavor is the most "mint-like." My favorite was the Lemongrass, which is flavorful and little bit peppy. I also enjoyed the Pear, but the flavor was so subtle and mild I took to chewing them which was a bad idea. Something about the Delicate Pear mints were addictive and while deeply engrossed on a project on the computer I must have eaten 15-20 mints, over the course of 2 hours. About 4 hours later I had painful cramping, gas, diarrhea. I didn't suspect the mint had anything to do with this, until I repeated the experience, a few days later and had identical symptoms. I stopped eating the mints and haven't had this problems since.
The two sweeteners for this product are Sorbitol and Xylitol. After some research it looks like the culprit for my stomach upset was likely Sorbitol. This sweeteners is used in many cough syrups and while eating 3 mints a day will probably not cause you any grief. In large enough quantities (many studies say 40 grams will cause this effect but in my case it was much, much less) Sorbitol is known to cause extreme gas, bloating and intestinal upset. Also a note to diabetics: Blindness and loss of extremities (usually feet) in diabetics is attributed to the body's build up of Sorbitol, which the body makes in very small quantities naturally and has difficulty flushing out. I do not have diabetes but I am somewhat chemically sensitive.
If a person eats 3 or 4 mints a day they are unlikely to develop any symptoms, but I am surprised that a company which seems to promote high consumer values and is a "natural" product, would use Sorbitol as a sweetener. The other sweetener Xylitol, after much testing and use, is not know to have any side effect. Xylitol is the principle sweetener used in chewing gum and many candies in Europe. There is even a dental treatment using Xylitol, as it is know to help the body dispel bacteria, including plaque.

Don't miss out on these!Nov 09, 2006
By Puffin If you love green tea, you will LOVE these mints. All three flavors are quite good...so good that I'm planning to give a few tins away as gifts. I was skeptical, at first, about whether these would taste good and freshen my mouth; they do both. If you're expecting Altoids or Fisherman's Friend mints, look elsewhere. These are mild and probably wouldn't do much to combat garlic/cigarette smoke, etc.
Also, these have no aftertaste like TicTacs. Factor in the health benefits of green tea, and you've got yourself a new mint!

Take it from an avid mint fan, these are terrificOct 18, 2006

I love mints. Nothing to clear your breath after a workout, lunch or before an afternoon meeting. After trying these mints, they have become my top choice. One of the greatest features is that 3 mints equals 1 cup of green tea, which has myriad medicinal and digestive benefits. I recently quit drinking coffee and switched over to green tea, so these mints also help me when I need a little pick me up too. I highly recommend this product.

Great Mints anytimeJan 28, 2008

I'm impressed. I was expecting something more like candy, but no. These are not only tasty and healthy for you, they'll freshen your breath, and there's no sugar. I've had then for about a week now and I've only opened 2, the Pear and the Lemongrass. Both are great and there must be about 60 mints in each container. I recommend these to everyone.
