Having seen that commercial on the TV for MONTHS before I was able to purchase this item, I fully expected this product to deliver. I have used many products in the Scotch Brite cleaning line and have always been satisfied. Unfortunately, if you've seen the commercial and expect it to perform as shown, you'll be sadly disappointed. There is no mention in the commercial that you've got to buff the daylights out of it to get rid of the haze the product leaves behind. And it didn't remove "all the cooked on food" as advertised. Save your money.

I looked all over for this product in stores, thinking it would be a great product. I was so disappointed. It did an OK job of removing surface dirt, but no better than anything else I have used. It did not remove any of the burned on mess that cheaper cleaners do. Save your money and use a liquid cooktop cleaner or Barkeeper's Friend. Even plain old baking soda and a sponge does a better job than this does.

This is the first cooktop cleanser that has actually managed to make my stovetop look brand new. I've tried a bunch of other stuff and it was all crap. The Scotch-Brite system delivers on it's promise. It was easy to use and the results are immediate. I can't tell you how much I love this product. Hands down, the best gift I received in 2008. I know a cleaning product might not seem like a great gift to some of you, but I like having a clean kitchen and my stovetop was an impossible mess. But no more! I'm thrilled with the Scotch-Brite Cook Top Cleaner.

If you use this product alone you'll be disappointed. First, it handles recent splashes and cook-top crud, but is just not up to anything that's been baked on. Furthermore, the liquid (likely alcohol?) in the pads leaves an annoying smear that's difficult to remove.
Here's a "system" I've come up with that works very well.
1. Use the handle and included pads for light cleaning. To eliminate the smear, I remove the pad and use a piece of paper towel to buff it off. You'll need several pieces to get rid of the smear.
2. For harder-to-clean stains I use the same handle with a red Weiman pad Weiman #45 3CT CookTop Scrub Pads and the Weiman cleaner Weiman Glass Cook Top Cleaner, 15-Ounce. You can press down heavily on the handle and avoid the wear and tear on your hands you'd get using the Weiman pads themselves.
Overall, the handle is what's primarily useful, but since the liquid-soaked pads came with it I use them. When they're done I'm not sure I'll replace them.
Also- you can get both this product and the Weiman products at Walmart and save on shipping!
