5Best product, Best priceMay 16, 2007

This paste is very hard to find, with fewer people polishing silver these days. However, for ease of us and effective tarnish removal, it's the best. Sorely tempted to buy all available, to last me the rest of my life. This price is low, and the stuff keeps well.

Happy to find Twinkle at Amazon.com as I can't find it in the grocery store anymore. Helps with tarnishing. Keep it in stock!

5Top best for silver keepingMay 31, 2011

I use to buy it at Coop Supermarkets in Switzerland.
I don't know why, such a good product, ratio quality price excellent, was discontinued in Europe. At this point I buy it in US and collect it everytime I am in the US or somebody volunteers to take it with, to me.
Easy to use, helps enjoy your silver cutlery every day instead of just polishing when you have guests,.... may be very boring ones.

5Twinkle shines & protects!Dec 27, 2010

I have a set of silverplate that was a wedding gift to my parents in 1967 - my mother gave it to me when I went off to college. We had never used it because it was "nice" silverware and we mostly used stainless steel flatware. For years, this set of Oneida Community Plate "Silver Sands" stayed wrapped in cloth in a drawer. After I ended a 4 year relationship that I had thought would end only in marriage - I thought, "What the hell! It's not like I can expect to receive a set of silverware for a wedding gift myself" and started using it as my daily silverware about 10 years ago.

Over the last several years, I have had the other problem - more than 8 people at my house and a constant chasing around to wash silverware (or retrieve it from the trash - those careless guests have not been invited back).

Over the last couple of months, I have been watching E-bay for pieces to add to my collection. A few cocktail forks and some demitasse spoons, a couple dinner forks - all so clean and sparkling that I realized how tarnished my silverplate had become. Finally, I scored someone else's wedding gift: 38 pieces for $34 including shipping.

When it arrived - it wasn't in much better shape than my own set, so I pulled out the products from under the sink: Twinkle and Tarn-X. Honestly, it had been so long since I polished my silver, that I couldn't remember what product worked best.

I spent most of the evening with Twinkle - the Tarn-X smelled so bad that I didn't want to work with it in the livingroom with a movie. I went through many old rags with the Twinkle and the silverware from my drawer was looking quite good. The next morning, I finished up the Twinkle and started with Tarn-X. The pieces I cleaned with Tarn-x - particularly the soup spoons (or tablespoons) - ended up looking far worse than the pieces cleaned with Twinkle. In fact - Tarn-X stripped the shine from the bowl of the spoons!

I did not soak the pieces in the Tarn-X - and I did put all the pieces into clean water after, changing out the water from my 3 gallon basin frequently. I switched to some sample sizes of Colgate toothpaste which worked better than Tarn-x, though not as good as Twinkle.

In the end - I really regret using Tarn-X at all, and plan to return my unfinished bottle to the store with a letter asking them to discontinue carrying the product. It's toxic and it's damaging to the products it claims to be cleaning.

The silverplate cleaned with Twinkle is still shiny and mirror-like, even damaged pieces are improved with a cleaning with Twinkle. My mom confirmed: Twinkle was always her mother's choice for polishing silver, too!

4Works well, but quantity is too largeFeb 21, 2010

This is a very good product. It is easy to use, smells reasonably well ( especially compared to other silver cleaning products), cleans silver easily, and doesn't cover your hand with "gunk." The only negative is the quantity that you have to buy--12 jars. That's a whole lot of silver to be cleaned. I'm thinking of giving a jar to my grown children as a a a----- birthday gift!
