A REAL SEAFOOD TREASURENov 07, 2007
By J. Wessel
""seafood loving pirate""
I have been looking for Vigo canned marinade octopus for 12 years. There was only one store in Del Mar,California that carried it. I lived on the island of Kauai for many years.Every time that I would go to "the mainland" I would buy EVERY can that store had in stock. On one trip I went to that store, couldn't find it on the shelf.I was shocked.I asked the manager why the octopus wasn't there on the shelf. He told me that they "don't carry it anymore" I was VERY depressed because that canned marinade octopus was better than some of the most gourmet seafood I have ever had!!!!! THANKS to Amazon.com,my search is over and,I can so much relish each and every heavenly bite of this REAL SEAFOOD TREASURE!!!!!

Marinate OctopusJan 09, 2007

I grew up eating octopus, both fresh and canned. Finding it is difficult to impossible in Minnesota. I enjoyed this product although I wish Amazon had the one marinated in its own ink. Certainly an acquired taste, but one that seafood lovers should try. You can try it in an omelet with vegetables and topped with sour cream and marjoram or for a very fast meal, add to leftover rice, along with other sea foods, vegetables and a bit of liquid-a lazy person's Paella.

Delicious, alone or cooked in a dishJan 02, 2008

I love Vigo's canned octopus and both the marinade or oil packed is wonderful alone as an exotic snack or cooked in a dish. Here is how I cook it, I empty the can into a medium heated sauce pan and when the marinade/oil is hot add drained canned garbonzo beans and saute till the garbanzo beans are soft and tender and have absorbed the yummy liquids flavoring them like the octopus, during the process I add either fresh sliced green onions, or onion powder, a little garlic, mushrooms and you can add chopped green or red bell peppers or fresh chopped tomatos or both for color. Makes a nice large meal full of protein and flavor. The tender octopus goes so well with the garbanzo beans, which really extend the flavor and the meal. Serve with rice or noodles and for veggies steam or stir fry the ones you like best as a side.
I always tell my friends this is a can't lose gift if they want to send me something for my birthday or the holidays. I love it so and can't get it locally at all. Yum!

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH Baby Baybee!!!Nov 09, 2011
By Kathleen Moss Vigo Octopus, how do I love thee, lemme count the ways....E I G H T!
While living in Spain,I learned to love octopus and squid and many other things that some won't touch with a ten foot fork.
I am a complete piggy when it comes to this stuff...talk about abfab, it's beyond that to me. It's as close as you're gonna get to Pulpo a la Gallega in a tin and this side of the pond too.
If you like pulpo you will not be eating just one tin at a time...make sure you have some crusty bread on hand, goes well w/a small ciabatta roll!
I better stop, I'm about to drool and I only one tin left!
Time to re-order....BTW,subscribe and save is the best deal for this item, cheaper and free shipping!

I most like octopus in a hot sauce, but this product is less expensive than that already in hot sauce, so I just add my homemade hot sauce to this product and munch down.
