I purchased this drive to back up files on my 2.33GhZ 17" Apple laptop. It worked perfectly right out of the box. Plus it looks great. I'm using the SuperDuper freeware utility to back up my files.

This was a simple installation, just plugged the USB connector into my MacBook, turned on the external hard drive and it worked right away using Mac's Time Machine software.

Works like a charm!
Ready out of the box, and has been working for a full year now. Even worked through an OS update (from leopard to snowleopard) Highly suggest.

About a week after I bought this item, I needed to replace the hard drive in my laptop. Using the Western Digital My Book, I was able to transfer all my data flawlessly and easily. I think that's the test of whether or not it works.
