Company has discontinued product--it has BPAJun 07, 2010 I bought this tuna for my sister, but between when I ordered it and when it arrived, I emailed the company to inquire about how often to eat the tuna. They said that even with minimal mercury, it still contained mercury and not to eat more than 12-14 oz. per week. and that their Skip Jack Chunk Lite Tuna has lower mercury. They also said that this product has BPA in the can lid (this is the chemical that is found in plastic bottles and has raised some health concerns) and so has been discontinued. They now sell a BPA free version.
There was absolutely no information on the Amazon site that the product was discontinued because of BPA or I never would have bought the tuna. I tried to return it, but got the message saying that the product was not returnable--something that was also not clear from the web site. I ended up throwing all the tuna I bought away!
I am disappointed with Amazon. There should have been full disclosure about this product. I assume the reason the product is out of stock is that there will be no more available since the company has switched to cans that are BPA free. Look for the words "Kosher BPA free" on the label of the new product. I also should have been able to return the item.

Best optionFeb 11, 2010 We can find this tuna at our local Whole Foods for approx. $3,39 a can. This makes the Amazon option a backup. A great back up it is.
Wild Planet's sustainably caught, minimal mercury tuna is from a responsible company who cares about a quality product as well as the ocean that makes it possible. My partner and I can get two large sandwiches from one can or four Wasa crackers covered. At $1,69 per person for lunch, the price is affordable and preferred to any tuna sandwich you can even purchase. The taste is authentic fish but not pungent. It isn't the salty, watered down dry tuna of most store brands. It has healthy oils front and center with a firm but not dry texture.
Great Tuna - enjoy more oftenFeb 06, 2010 This tuna is really good. The best part the minimal mercury, now we can eat tuna as often as we want it.

Wild Planet Wild Albacore Tuna, Minimal Mercury, 6-Ounce Cans (Pack of 6)
This Wild Planet Wild Albacore Tuna I ordered from AMAZON is the best canned tuna I have ever eaten.
It is tender without being mushy, and has a very good flavor to savor alone, without being in salad or sandwich filling, though is certainly good in the usual recipes.
It is also visually pleasing. I had never thought of the color of tuna before. This is a "tasty" shade of tan,
immediately appealing.
