 BEWARE: No scanning without toner!May 04, 2010

This printer has been deliberately designed to screw you but you won't know it until after 2000 pages! That's because when it runs out of color toner (say for example the Yellow runs out) you will have to replace that cartridge before you can either print Black&White or Scan. You'll get an error and for another $20 on your CC, the nice folks at Xerox will tell you too-bad-so-sad there's nothing you can do.
The print quality is: nothing special
speed: normal
scan quality: acceptable
cartridges: cost ~$100 for low-yield (no discounts!)
number of cartridges: 4
down time: depends on how fast you can get a replacement cartridge. 4 out of 5 places in the DFW area didn't have the yellow in stock so you'll have to wait while they get one and you'll take it in the shorts -guaranteed!
We use the USB interface and the Win7 drivers installed without undue difficulty.
Good luck if you decide to buy one of these. I tried one and I wouldn't buy another and I wouldn't recommend one to my friend. The lost time is way more valuable than any savings you might have gotten on the purchase price! You'll also discover that cartridges aren't available at most of the normal places. You can just about forget picking one up on your lunch break. Fry's doesn't have them, Best buy doesn't have them, Staples doesn't have them, Office doesn't have them. I couldn't find a single convenience or discounter that carried any of the xerox cartridges. It's a major operation to track one down.
We've learned our lesson. We have several HP's and everyone likes them better and now, I do too.

I LOVE THIS PRINTER! We have had this for 2 full years and almost 42,000 prints and it is still going strong! The machine will NOT work at all if one of the ink carts are out, which can be annoying. I learned my lesson and now make sure i am stocked with ink. The ink CAN be ordered through Staples! Delivery to your home or business in 1-2 buisness days! I found a business that gives me a great discount on high-yield and we keep in contact through email. So the ink IS easily found :)... just not in stock at your local stores. When this computer goes out I will be looking for another one either EXACTLY like this one or very similar. LOVE LOVE LOVE this printer!!
