Flavor doesn't last very long, but this is still the best sugar-free gum I've found (so far)Jan 18, 2007

I'll agree with another reviewer here that flavor longevity could be improved, but I also have to say that I don't see Trident as a viable, sugar-free gum alternative at this time.
Many gum-makers are starting to embrace the benefits of Xylitol and incorporate the ingredient into their product lines, but most of them (Trident included) supplement the sweetener with either sucralose (Splenda) or aspartame (Nutrasweet, Equal), both of which are toxic and are responsible for many ill side-effects. Sucralose is basically chlorinated sugar, chlorine being, basically, bleach. Not something one would want to ingest into one's body. Aspartame has been on the market longer, and its effects have been well-documented over the years. It contains neurotoxins, including methanol (which also occurs naturally in fruits along with ethanol and pectin, which greatly slow down its metabolization, greatly decreasing its potency) that your body metabolizes directly to formaldehyde. Among other things, aspartame has been known to cause extreme fatigue, depression, severe headaches, skin diseases, severe muscle weakness, vomiting, Bells Palsy, and even death (including among healthy athletes who drink a lot of diet sodas and use energy powders like MetRx, both of which include aspartame).
Google "aspartame poisoning" and/or "sucralose poisoning" for more info.
So, until someone is able to point out a better tasting xylitol-sweetened gum that includes neither aspartame or sucralose, I'll be buying XyliChew.
Best gum everJan 03, 2012
By S. geyer I love this gum. It has no nasty chemicals and the flavor lasts longer than gum I used to buy at the store. i am in customer relations so I need fresh breath. These do the trick. You won't be disappointed.

Way too expensiveFeb 26, 2009
By joe man. The gum is natural, free of artificial flavors and coloring. However, its made of sugar alcohol and latex for god's sake, so the price they are charging is not acceptable. I think I will be giving up gum for good unless they lower the price or a competition makes another natural chewing gum.

not very long lastingAug 16, 2006

I'm a little disappointed in this gum. The pieces (indivudal "chiclets" in a blister pack) are tiny (expect to pop at least 2) and the flavour blows out pretty quickly. I have been chewing Trident "mini sticks" for some time. They too use Xylitol as the sweetener but retain their consistency and flavour for much longer than Xlichew.
Even the initial flavour of Xylichew is pretty weak compared to Trident.
I likely won't be buying Xylichew again.
