I bought this rice from amazon because I was unable to find Paella Rice in any grocer store. It came really quicky and my paella was delicious. I was a little skeptical about the water to rice ratio but: FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS ON THE BAG! I thought for sure the rice would be ruined but it was perfect and one bag yields enough for 6 or more people.

This is perfect rice for paella. It comes with two smaller bags, one bag was the perfect amount to make more paella than three adults could eat. I am a huge fan.

This bomba rice has the right texture for paella. It needs twice the amount of water for paella because it will cook in a shallow pan, without a cover, which evaporates a lot of the water so be sure to add *4 cups of water (or broth) per 1 cup of rice*.
For any other rice dish, cooked in a regular pot and covered, use the standard 2 cups of water per 1 cup of rice.
This may not be the very best bomba rice out there, but it is a very good paella rice, regardless. The price has gone up a bit in the past year, but it's still not bad considering how hard it is to find bomba rice.
Makes great paella and 'arroz con pollo'.
TIP: Several years ago I discovered that pulverizing saffron in a mortar and pestle, and then steeping it in boiling water, results in a much more flavorful infusion and deeper/richer color using only half the amount the recipe calls for. Also, if you keep saffron in the freezer it will retain its wonderful color and flavor for a long time.

The good news is that this is quite good rice for paella. But I must say that I do not find it notably better than Arborio rice that is always stocked by my local grocery. I am certainly not trying to discourage someone from buying the Bomba and trying it. And I willingly admit that a more educated palate and finer sense of texture might find differently.
